Mac and Cheese
- Aunt Celia taught Bren and me how to make her macaroni and cheese over FaceTime during early COVID-19 lockdown.
- Reheat leftovers in oven to restore crisp.
Ingredients
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 4 Tbsp butter
- 2½ cups whole milk
- 1 lb cheese, cubed (e.g. cheddar)
- ¼ cup flour
- Frank’s RedHot sauce (optional)
Directions
- Bring water to boil and cook macaroni al dente.
- Melt butter in a saucepan and whisk to combine. Slowly add milk while stirring, ensuring that there aren’t any flour clumps.
- Add cubed cheese and stir until cheese has melted. Optional: add hot sauce to your taste preferences.
- Pour cheese sauce over cooked macaroni and combine so that all pasta is coated.
- Put macaroni in baking dish and bake at 350° for 90 minutes.
