This frosting is stiff enough to decorate from a piping bag.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)
3-4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
¼ tsp table salt
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
Up to 4 Tbsp heavy cream, half and half, or milk
Directions
Beat the softened butter for with a mixer on medium speed.
Add 3 cups of sifted powdered sugar and turn your mixer on the lowest speed until sugar has been incorporated. The mixture will look clumpy.
Increase the mixer speed to medium and add the vanilla extract, salt, and 2 Tbsp of cream. Beat for 2-3 minutes until it is whipped, fluffy, and creamy.
If your frosting needs a more stiff consistency, add remaining sugar. If your frosting needs to be thinned out, add remaining cream 1 Tbsp at a time.
